Smarmy, smirky liberals

I should follow up that headline by saying that I'm a liberal by almost anyone's standards. That's why I'm particularly annoyed by liberals who adopt questionable rhetoric and silly name-calling, favored tactics of the most irritating conservatives, in order to take easy swipes at those same conservatives.

Now I'm no Rumsfeld fan, but his leaked memo is the most reassuring sign I've seen from him that he's actually trying to do his job well. Basically, it shows him considering the possibility that he hasn't been following the right course up until now. This is exactly what liberals should want to hear any member of the Bush administration say! We should be welcoming any open and honest reconsideration of policy and practice!

But the liberal dogs drool and circle as soon as they think they spot a weakness in a Bushie -- finally, they get their chace to be as mean as the conservative dogs have been to them these past years -- and so they concoct shameful replies like "Reply to Rumsfeld Memo" and put their stupid smartass-looking pictures right along side of it. Are they proud of this piece of trash? It makes you think that if Rumsfeld walked up to the podium tomorrow and said, "We shouldn't have gone to war in Iraq," their immediate reply would be, "Your statement confuses us. You told us for the past year that we should go to war in Iraq." Trying to make him out to be a fool for contradicting himself, when in reality it looks like he might just be changing his mind... exactly the kind of thing we should encourage, not pounce upon.
