A new first
Something happened to me Sunday night which had never happened to me before: I heard a They Might Be Giants song for the first time on the radio, for the first time. Let me try to clarify that: it was the first time that I heard a TMBG song for the first time on the radio. Ahem. I heard a TMBG song on the radio, and it was the first time I'd heard that song, and that was the first time that that had happened. And the strangest thing is, it wasn't even a new song*. It happened when Dr. Demento played "A Shooting Star." I guess that came out as a single in 2001, but I hadn't heard about it. Man, I used to be so on top of this stuff. Everything really did change after 9-11.
*It wouldn't have been new anyway, because it was a cover.
