It was a lovely weekend with some lovely people visiting. On Saturday, Levi and I dusted off my disused copy of Blood Bowl and played a match. I'd played the 2nd edition of the game quite a bit in high school. Then a few years ago, I was in a software modelling course and decided to model an online version of the game. As I looked into it, it turned out there was a 4th edition of the rules (which I purchased for research purposes) and a play by e-mail client, which at the time was fairly immature software. I'd got the itch to do some Blood Bowling again, but looked around online for tabletop leagues in my area, didn't find any, tried to interest some friends without much success, and moved on.

I had so much fun on Saturday with Levi (who knew a 1-1 tie could be so entertaining?), I decided to look online for any local players in my new town. Turns out, that at the very moment we were playing, there was a tournament not 15 miles away. As Seymor put it, "You could have found other people like you!"

Happily, it looks like that play-by-email client has matured nicely, as has the ruleset (5th edition was published earlier this year) so I'm hoping to join the Midgard Blood Bowl League. And for once, my timing is good: their new season starts in January, with practice matches starting in December. Fun, here I come.
